This is the tragic story of a young Saudi man who recently took his own life. Regardless of the Shariah ruling about killing oneself and the real intention and mental health condition of the person, the whole matter is left to Allah and His mercy. We do not know whether the person who committed suicide will go to Heaven or Hell. All we can do is pray for him and hope that his family overcomes this ordeal.

The young man was in his 30s and lived in a well-known neighborhood in Arar, a city in the north of the country. He put a gun in his mouth and fired. Some of the people who wrote about his story on Twitter said that he was a health graduate. On the other hand, Police Spokesman Col. Ouwayed Al-Anazi confirmed the story and said the young man took his own life with a gun. The story was popular on Twitter, so much so that it was tweeted over 20,000 times.

Some young men took this opportunity to talk about their struggle with unemployment and called upon the authorities to find solutions to it. Unemployment is not a new crisis. A royal decree was issued five years ago to resolve the problem. The decree approved a detailed timeline and future solutions to handle the increasing number of graduates from teaching colleges and post-secondary health academies and ordered the concerned authorities to take immediate action.

While some aspects of unemployment have been handled successfully and jobs have been created for a large number of young men, some young people still continue to be unemployed. John Steinbeck, an American author, once wrote: “A sad soul can kill you quicker, far quicker, than a germ.”
