A FEW days ago, a video clip has gone viral showing some men attacking a policeman on Jeddah Corniche. This barbarous attack did not take place at some secret place; instead it happened in front of everyone in a crowded area, which speaks of a dangerous precedent that violated the country›s security and its security personnel who represent our first line of defense against all types of assaults on our society.

Policemen and security personnel are a symbol of the state›s prestige and honor. They put the safety and security of citizens on top of their priorities and never spares any aggressor, whether a citizen or resident. Because safety is our greatest blessing from God and we always thank Him for the stability of our country. We do not know the exact details of what happened, but surely we will. Regardless of what incited them to carry out the attack, the perpetrators will receive the punishment they deserve.

But based on the ongoing investigations, the attackers were mostly from «the intruder nation» as the Shoura Council has put it. The council demanded the Ministry of Interior to take proper action against them and form a committee to deport all the «intruders» back to their countries before the situation gets out of control.

They have afflicted us with various types of crimes and problems and they became bold enough to directly and deliberately target our security personnel. This is a very grave matter that forewarns us of more serious problems to come if the situation is not tackled quickly.

Once a Western politician said during a crisis: «Human rights should go to hell when it is about national security.»
