One of the most important ways to develop our healthcare sector is to set up a healthcare information database with information, such as the number of patients who are admitted to the emergency department, number of outpatients, number of medications dispensed to patients, etc. If the healthcare departments of medical institutions can record such information and build a strong database using modern methods of collection and analysis, this will help develop better healthcare strategies and visions for the sector and contribute to enhancing healthcare values.

Unfortunately, most medical institutions do not attach great significance to building a large database of information although such a database can introduce revolutionary changes to healthcare services and improve the type of services offered to patients. Moreover, most institutions rely on external consultancy companies to analyze the collected data despite the fact that these medical institutions have their own planning and development divisions, which can perform this task.

It has been noted that employees who gather information lack proper experience and cannot utilize this information in order to add more value to healthcare services. Value-based care is important for gaining patient satisfaction and trust and helps enhance healthcare services in general. The emphasis here should be placed on value not quantity. For example, providing more care does not necessarily mean better care. If a patient is asked to have x-rays three times a year or visit the doctor two or three times a year, that does not mean he is getting better healthcare services.

The real value lies in the high-quality healthcare services provided to the patient, which improve and enhance his general health and reduce the possibility of him visiting the doctor again. In other words, what really matters for any healthcare provider is the improvement of healthcare services, which reflect positively on the public health index.
