Refugee finance in proportion to military firepower and war effort

The refugee crises in Europe and the Middle East bring into clear focus the insanity and counterproductiveness of the military intervention and regime change policy of the USA in particular, and the West in general. America with its allies and NATO went uninvited into Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya with their troops, in flamboyant style, without a normal visa. Their visas were: B-52 bombers, Apache helicopters, cruise missiles, frigates, destroyers, the ubiquitous drone and the latest weaponry in their horrendous arsenal. The citizens of these countries were used as guinea pigs for testing new weapons and weapon systems, resulting in unjustifiable “collateral damages!”

They pontificate the virtues of Western moralism and the supremacy of Western institutions, with bombastic arrogance. People in Western countries were living in paradise, while those in victim countries were living in a hell that was created by their demonic leaders, who, therefore, had no right to rule and must be eliminated. According to them, supported by their theories of totalitarianism, which were used to justify the unsolicitous overt and covert intervention of states and regime change, it was the duty of “free” states of the West to extricate helpless populations from the fatal “tentacles of the totalitarian octopus.” The populations in these countries did not have the capability to decide their political destiny. The lot fell on what I call the Righteous of the Earth: America with its allies and NATO to decide that it was better for Iraqis, Afghans, Libyans and Syrians to die than to live under their leaders. Period! Armed with this type of twisted thinking, they descended on these victim countries with a vengeance. They directly or indirectly killed millions of innocent citizens; destroyed infrastructure, social and political institutions, thereby reducing these countries to what their so-called think-tanks term: “institutional paralysis.”

Of course, life was hard for the citizens, just as it had been hard for many in the West. But their little conveniences, including family life, were perniciously and literally bombed away by American, British and Australian jets! Some of these activities have contributed to, and precipitated the conflagration in Syria. Even Libya, which had been a stop-gap to Europe and destination for many Sub-Saharan Africans, was bombed by American and NATO jets to create a clean corridor linking Africa with Europe.

Tens of thousands of victims of this aggression by the West now want to try a new life in the paradise of Europe and America, rich in “Western values”, in response to the Shangri-La Western propaganda.  In another sense, they are just returning the visit, unlike the West, not with bombs or weaponry but with their devastated lives! They are knocking on Western doors to let them in for a little respite, in order to reorganize the lives that the West had helped to destroy. Yet they are declared persona-non grata in various forms and subjected to humiliation and abuse in blatant contravention of the very values the West claims to have cherished! Who must be held responsible for the consequences of their indiscretion? Others; not holy and perfect NATO, or the Coalition of the Righteous.
What puzzles some of us is that, the Coalition of the Righteous, have miserably failed to anticipate the aftermath of their absurdity: so disconcerting to the rational mind of which they claim monopoly. They spent about US$6 trillion to destroy the lives, hopes, aspirations and dreams of innocent millions in order to “liberate” them from “tyrannical rule.” They sacrificed tens of thousands of their own young men and women to fatten the bank accounts of the extremely aggressive and diabolical Military Industrial Complex: the true and incontrovertible beneficiaries of this crisis. Then they expect to live in peace and brush aside what they did? Impossible! To misquote Shakespeare in Macbeth: “Western leaders shall sleep no more; they have murdered sleep.”

My suggestion is very simple and fair: the West must live up to the accountability and responsibility that they preach. They must apply the diligence with which they planned their intervention to develop a plan that adequately and humanely caters for the refugees and rebuild what they went to destroy. All the countries that took part in wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya and Syria should calculate the proportion of firepower and war effort used, in relation to total firepower. Then $6 trillion must be shared using this proportion and the proceeds spent on refugees and reconstruction. For example, if he United Kingdom provided 10 percent of total firepower, they must contribute $600 billion; if God’s own country, the USA, provided 75 percent of total firepower, they must contribute $4.5 trillion. If the arithmetic is becoming too difficult, they should consult German engineers. I am sure Her Excellency, Chancellor Angela Merkel, the prominent and true leader who understands responsibility and accountability, can help. Shakespeare too can help them understand the situation better. He wrote in Macbeth: “Unnatural deeds do breed unnatural troubles: infected minds to their deaf pillows will discharge their secrets. More...than the physician. “
