Riyadh — Trigger-happy terrorists ended the budding life of Saudi infant Jawad Al-Dagher during an indiscriminate firing at a development project site in Al-Masourah district of Al-Awamiyah in Qatif governorate in the Eastern Province.
Jawad, who was 2 years old, was killed in front of his mother with a bullet to his head.
Along with Jawad a Pakistan expat was killed and 14 others, including four security men, were injured in the attack.
Maj. Gen. Mansour Al-Turki, security spokesman at the Ministry of Interior, said that the attack took place on Wednesday following the terrorists’ attempt to disrupt construction of a development project in Al-Masourah.
The injured include six Saudis and four expatriates – two Pakistanis, one Indian and a Sudanese.
The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemned the terrorist attack.
OIC Secretary-General Yousef Al-Othaimeen expressed confidence in the ability of the competent Saudi authorities to prosecute the perpetrators, bringing them to justice and revealing their affiliations.
He also expressed his sincere condolences to the family of the child who was killed in the terrorist attack and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
He reiterated OIC’s full solidarity with Saudi Arabia in its efforts to combat terrorism.
Arab, Gulf countries express solidarity with Saudi Arabia
In Amman, Jordanian government spokesperson Mohammed Al-Momani reiterated his country’s firm stance and solidarity with Saudi Arabia in fighting terrorism.
In Cairo, Egyptian Foreign Ministry affirmed its solidarity with Saudi Arabia in combatting terrorism and extremism.
It supported all measures taken by Saudi Arabia for the security and stability in its territories.
Bahrain’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it values the efforts exerted by the security authorities in Saudi Arabia for security and peace.
An official source at the Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry reiterated Kuwait’s solidarity with Saudi Arabia in all measures taken to preserve its security, stability and safety of its citizens and residents.
Expressing strong condemnation for the attack, Qatari Foreign Ministry expressed its full solidarity with Saudi Arabia in all measures taken to maintain its security and stability.
It reiterated Qatar’s firm stance on the rejection of violence and terrorism.
