GCC Conference Center in Riyadh named after Prince Saud Al-Faisal

RIYADH — The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) foreign ministers met here Thursday and named the GCC Secretariat General Conference Center in Riyadh after the late Prince Saud Al-Faisal.

The ceremony was held in the presence of Prince Turki Al-Faisal, chairman of the board of directors of King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies, Prince Khaled Bin Saud Al-Faisal, Prince Fahd Bin Saud Al-Faisal and GCC Secretary General Dr. Abdullatif Bin Rashid Al-Zayani.

At outset of the ceremony, following the unveiling of the memorial plaque of the late Prince Saud Al-Faisal’s photograph, Al-Zayani delivered a speech in which he welcomed the participants to the ceremony, highlighting the efforts exerted by the late Prince Saud in enhancing GCC joint action since its establishment on May 25, 1981.

He added that Prince Saud was the knight of diplomacy and was admired by the leaders of the world. He expressed thanks to the GCC foreign ministers for their noble initiative.

The GCC foreign ministers delivered their speeches in which they highlighted the achievements of the late Prince Saud during his tenure as Saudi foreign minister.

Prince Turki Al-Faisal, the guest of honor at the ceremony, expressed his thanks and appreciation to the GCC foreign ministers for this initiative, recalling the noble qualities and humane and courageous stances taken by Prince Saud.

The GCC foreign ministers and guests of the ceremony then watched a documentary showing the details of the Prince Saud Al Faisal Conference Center.

The audience also witnessed a documentary film entitled “The Knight of Diplomacy” which focused on the journey of the late Prince Saud, and the most important achievements in his career.

At the end of the ceremony, the GCC foreign ministers and GCC secretary-general presented a commemorative gift to Prince Turki Al Faisal, expressing their thanks and appreciation for attending this ceremony.
