JEDDAH — Sheikh Abdulaziz Al-Asheikh, grand mufti and chairman of the Senior Scholars’ Commission and Ifta Council, said that the newly formed Islamic Military Alliance will defeat Daesh (the so called IS).

He slammed Daesh, describing it as part of the Israeli army.

In a telephone talk with Okaz/Saudi Gazette, Asheikh said that the members of Daesh are doing a great harm to Islam and Muslims.

“They cannot be considered as followers of Islam. Rather, they are an extension of Kharijites, who rose in revolt against the Islamic caliphate for the first time by labeling Muslims as infidels and permitting their bloodletting.”

Referring to a recent threat by Daesh leader against Israel, the grand mufti said: “This threat against Israel is simply a lie. Actually, Daesh is part of the Israeli soldiers.”

  1. Sheikh Abdul Aziz Al-Sheikh, Grand Mufti and Chairman of the Senior Scholars’ Commission and Ifta Council has termed Daesh as part of Israeli army but there are some who consider them as an Islamic force. Describe plz, What is reality?

  2. Comment: OF COURSE, THIS IS THE RIGHT COMMENT, BY LOOKING AT REAL HAPPENING ESPECIALLY IN SYRIA AND IRAQ.

  3. I welcome the learned shaikh’s comments, however, I think it would be more fruitful if the shaikh uses his position to invite a big section of the leading Ulamah across the Muslim world to discuss the emergence of the ISIS group and how it can be tackled from an ideological point of view. I am aware of many Ulamah denouncing Isis but a grand alliance of Ulamah would in my view, be an absolute game changer. The shaikh could also use the services of the Rabeta Alam al Islami for the same purposes as well.

    • Can anyone give any evidence that what ISIS / Daesh is doing to Muslims or non Muslims in their area of control is according to the examples set by the Khulafa e Raashidun or any other (generally accepted by historians) pious Muslim kings or Sultans? Has any of the leading Islamic scholars supported this group or has any Muslim government supported this group with moral, financial or military help? If the answer is ‘yes’, then we need to know those personalities or countries. If the answer is ‘no’, then there must be a powerful non Muslim nation supporting ISIS. In my view, with the huge amount of scrutiny that Islamic figures and groups going through presently that, these distinguished scholars will have access to information that we ‘normal’ people won’t have. Anyway, I hope this military alliance is properly set up, focused on key objectives and managed by appropriately professional people.
