Pilgrims from Qatar to get all facilities, services: Kingdom

Riyadh — Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Bahrain asked Qatari visitors and nationals to leave within 14 days.

However, this decision does not affect Qatari Haj and Umrah pilgrims, a Saudi official source said in a statement to Saudi Press Agency.

“The Kingdom confirms its commitment and keenness to provide all facilities and services to Qatari Haj and Umrah pilgrims,” the source said.

The three Gulf countries also prohibited their citizens from visiting Qatar and asked those residing there to leave within two weeks.

The Saudi official source said: “In accordance with the decision to sever diplomatic and consular relations, Saudi citizens are prohibited from traveling to Qatar, residing in or passing through it. Visitors and those residing in Qatar have to leave its territories within 14 days.

“The decision, for security reasons, unfortunately prevents Qatari citizens’ from entering or transiting through the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Qatari visitors and those residing in the Kingdom have to leave Saudi territories within 14 days.”

A similar statement was issued by the UAE news agency WAM.

“The UAE prevents Qatari nationals from entering the UAE or crossing its points of entry, and gives Qatari residents and visitors 14 days to leave the country for precautionary security reasons.

“The UAE nationals are likewise banned from traveling to or staying in Qatar or transiting through its territories,” said WAM as it announced the closure of UAE airspace and seaports for all Qataris within 24 hours and banning all Qatari means of transportation, coming to or leaving the UAE, from crossing, entering or leaving the UAE territories in view of national security considerations.

Bahrain also prohibited its citizens from traveling to Qatar or residing in it and prohibited Qataris from entering Bahrain or passing through it. “We grant Qatari residents and visitors 14 days to leave Bahrain. Although we trust our brothers from among the Qatari people, (we) had to take these measures as precautions against any hostile attempts or activities,” Bahrain said in a statement published by the Bahrain News Agency.
