RIYADH — Pakistan Falcons emerged champions of the RCA Saturday T20 League, organized by RCA (Riyadh Cricket Association) at the RCA Complex here.
The final was supervised by RCA umpires Mohammed Akram and Qaiser Mahmood.
KFSH Riyadh Warriors won the toss and elected to bat first. They lost their captain and in-form batsman Nasir Abbasi in the very first over which proved to be a decisive blow. The other KFSH Opener Amjad Ali stood firm at one end and made 55 off 32 balls, but Pakistan Falcons bowlers kept the pressure on the other batsmen and took wickets at regular intervals. Later, Khurram Baig and Saqib Saleem were involved in a good partnership which took their team to a respectable total of 198 in 20 overs. Khurram scored 46 off 32 balls and Saqib added 37 off 23 balls. For Pakistan Falcons, Adnan Ahmed, Kashif Mirza and Asim Nawaz bagged 2 wickets each.
Chasing a moderate total, Pakistan Falcons openers Yassir Ahmed and Kashif Mirza started with a bang and hit boundaries all over the ground. Yassir Ahmed remained unbeaten on 87 off 46 balls and Kashif Mirza hit a stylish 77 off 41 balls. This 100-plus opening stand took the game away from KFSH Riyadh Warriors and ultimately Pakistan Falcons won the match in 17.1 overs. Iftikhar Ali and Mateen Abbasi were the only successful bowlers with a wicket apiece. Kashif Mirza was declared the Man of the Match for his splendid all-round performance. — SG
