LONDON — The second Gulf-British Forum on Thursday underscored the need to further boost trade relations between the United Kingdom and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states.

The forum reiterated the resolve of the two sides to take advantage of the vast opportunities that lay open following the British decision to exit the European Union, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

The forum, organized by the Arab-British Chamber of Commerce, was attended by Duke of York Prince Andrew as well as senior ministers, officials and businessmen from the GCC and the UK.

The meeting discussed various aspects of further enhancing trade, business and investment relations between the two sides.

GCC Secretary-General Abdullatif Al-Zayani said he was optimistic that the British government would effectively manage Brexit and this move would not have any negative impact on its wide-ranging ties with the GCC. He underscored that the two sides are determined to develop and promote their partnership and co-operation in political, economic and trade fields.

In the meantime, he warned against the challenges the world is facing as a result of violence and terrorism.

Al-Zayani vowed the UK and GCC would stand firm to face this growing threat.
