About Us
Saudi Gazette, established in 1978, is one of the leading English newspapers of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Living upto its theme of “The Tone of Truth and Moderation”, it has carved a niche for itself in the Saudi media industry.

Saudi Gazette is also the first Saudi Arabian national newspaper to appoint Somayya Jabarti as the first woman editor in chief. She was promoted to this position following more than ten years of “hands on” experience at all levels in the industry.

She was one of the many members who joined the team led by media doyen Khaled Almaeena to revamp Saudi Gazette in 2012. She was his deputy at the time of her joining the newspaper.

Her elevation to the top job was succinctly put by the outgoing editor-in-chief Almaeena in a farewell letter posted on the newspaper’s website in February 2014. “It was not a question of gender but of merit that decided and earned her this opportunity.”

While the newspaper is based in Jeddah, on the Red Sea coast, it has two bureaus: Riyadh, the Kingdom's capital, and Al-Khobar on the Arabian Gulf in the Eastern Province.

The newspaper evolved with time as it adopted and adapted to the growing technological mores of the industry. But as was its practice, it caters to a varied section of Saudi society, both nationals and residents, by providing diverse news that is of interest to the society.

But with the new Internet age, dissemination of news had to change, and Saudi Gazette slowly focused on local news that was of interest to Saudis and foreign residents. Also it became an authentic source for the outside world.

Saudi Gazette not only underwent a physical and content facelift, it also introduced the concept of leisure reading with two Weekend editions on Friday and Saturday.

Saudi Gazette also became a preferred medium for advertising and marketing one’s products and brands.

The new team was also instrumental in redirecting content onto the Internet with a new and dynamic website and our reach has grown slowly over the years.

It is evidenced by the hundreds of thousands of hits everyday on our daily website www.saudigazette.com.sa and our social media sites.

The rebuilding of a more interactive website has made Saudi Gazette emerge as a true window for Saudi news to the world.
