Integrity, honesty and hard work key to success: Indian envoy

By Mir Mohsin Ali RIYADH — The 33rd Annual Day at the International Indian School Riyadh (IISR) was a fun-filled and enthusiastic affair that was enriched by enthralling performances of the students. In his keynote speech, Indian Ambassador Ahmed Javed said that integrity is of prime importance and there is no shortcut to integrity ever in life. “Integrity, honesty and hard work cannot be compensated by any other shortcut. Integrity and hard work are key to success in every field or endeavor in our life,” he said in his address at the 33rd Annual Day of IISR. The ambassador said, “The values imparted to the children in their homes are very important for all education is not given at the school. Parents are also part of the education process and they are equally responsible for educating children, for at the end of the day the responsibility of teachers and parents are same.” “Ethics and values imparted by parents are very important and play a dominant role in the children’s growth and life,” he added. He also stressed on the necessity for all to understand the value and importance of the natural resources. Citing the depletion of the natural resource water as an example, he advised children to understand the importance of water in our lives and use it carefully and not waste it. He also advised them to be aware and cautious about the climate and environment as changes in it impacts us in many ways. Javed congratulated the students who achieved gold and silver medals in academics and sports. He expected that the number of medals to increase next year. IISR Principal and HOI Dr. Shaukat Perwez gave the welcome address and said that conservation of natural resources is also a form of service to the nation. Even by saving some we can serve our nation. Dr. Dilshad Ahmad, chairman, managing committee at the IISR, announced the formation of a school alumni association. He said, “It’s been launched upon the advice of Ambassador Javed.” He assured the school staff that all their benefits are safe and stressed on job security for dedicated staff. Dilshad also announced that the school management had succeeded to get better insurance for the staff. Asma Shah, principal in charge, Girls Section, gave a detailed report on IISR activities for the year 2016-2017. Observer of all the Indian schools Dr. Hifzur Rahman, first secretary Embassy of India Riyadh, was the guest of honor. Students, teachers, managing committee members and prominent Indian community members attended the 5-hour long event, which was enriched by enthralling performances from students. Ambassador presented a memento to Asma Shah for completing 3 decades in school and gave medals to teachers and for the best students. The Annual Day event started with recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by Hamza Javed Khan. Abdul Bari conducted the proceedings and Meera Rahman gave the vote of thanks.
