19 gang members arrested in Riyadh

RIYADH — Police arrested members of five gangs accused of 27 thefts in which goods worth more than SR250,000 were stolen. Riyadh Police spokesman Fawaz Al-Mayman said 19 men belonging to five separate gangs were arrested in total. The men barged into houses of expatriates and stole their money, cell phones and other valuable items after threatening the residents with weapons. The suspects confessed to their crimes. Police said their confessions matched theft reports they had received. The men were handed over to the pertinent authorities for further action. — Okaz/Saudi Gazette
