Kempinski outplays Hyatt, Al Faisaliah drubs Movenpick in Hoteliers League

RIYADH — Coming from a heart-breaking defeat against Ritz-Carlton and aware that they’re battling with a team sharing identical standing with them, Kempinski withstood Hyatt Regency’s efforts to win.
Leading by 4 in the first half, Kempinski was outperformed by the hardworking Hyatt team led by Richard Eswan who already had 14 points in his bucket. The result, Hyatt surpassing Kempinski by 1 after the third quarter with 43-44.
However, 5 Kempinski players led by Wendell Quiba didn’t give up and delivered what they needed to do at the right time to take away a 61-56 decider over the Hyatt boys.
Wendell Quiba was named Best Player of the game with 21 points, 1 steal, 9 assists, 4 rebounds and 1 block. Clayd Ducusin chipped in 19 points, 1 steal, 4 asissts and 4 rebounds.
On the other hand, Richard Eswan and Kennedy Beredo finished with 14 points and 10 points respectively for Hyatt Regency, who now dropped to 1-2 win loss record.
After thrashing Sheraton and Hyatt in its first two assignments, Al Faisaliah saw no reason for a break. Playing its third against the winless Movenpick Hotel Riyadh, the team of Jurald Dave Ybanez made its presence felt early in the ballgame with a commanding 21-2 first quarter.
However, Movenpick answered back with its own 18-6 run during the second quarter to cut the deficit to just seven. But again Al Faisaliah sparked, making it its show, as 11 players contributed to notch its third straight victory and to tie Ritz-Carlton with 3-0 win loss slate. The game ended with 79-43, another lopsided win for Al Faisaliah.
Jurald Dave Ybanez finished with 16 points and 1 rebound while fellow Erano Campo and Nino Lauriaga added 18 points and 16 points respectively. As for Movenpick, it was Crisencio Garcia who topped the scoring with 18 points apart from 3 assists, 16 rebounds, and a steal. Movenpick Hotel Riyadh remains winless after 3 games.
