MES lauded for its services

JEDDAH — The Muslim Education Society (MES) Jeddah Chapter recently had an interaction meeting with Indian Consul General Md. Noor Rehman Sheikh as well as with consuls at the Red Sea Palace hotel. The Executive Committee members of MES, Mohd Alungal, chairman of Al Abeer Group, Mohd Ali, chairman of Jeddah National Hospital, prominent community members attended the event. MES General Secretary Salah Karadan welcomed the Chief Guest Consul General Sheikh, consuls and other guests and stressed, in his brief address, the continuing role of MES in community service. MES President K.P. Abdul Salam, in his presidential speech, highlighted the support and great service of the Consul General to the community, especially to MES. He then stressed on Consul General Sheikh’s efforts in creating a new synergy between the mission and the community while planning and processing the Haj with the help of the community. He also lauded the efforts of the other consul present — Dr. Md. Nurul Hasan, consul commerce, Yogesh Kumar Shukla, consul (HOC & CPIO), Anand Kumar, consul consular services, Moin Akthar, consul community, welfare & PIC — for their services and listed their past efforts in various sectors in India as well as abroad. A brief outline of MES’ activities was then made by Ashraf, who highlighted the services of MES to the Indian community especially the provision of safe drinking water for the villagers in India. In the capacity as convener for Rohingya refugees relief work, he enlightened the agony they are facing in their homeland as well as in their present stay at the host country as a refugee. He explained the extent of MES involvement in relief work and its efforts in alleviating the sufferings of the refugees in any small way. MES, he said, has set up few bore wells in these camps to provide the basic necessity like water. Sheikh applauded the services of MES to the community in general, while promising his support anytime whenever it is sought for. He also praised the community for coming forward in volunteer work, and citied it being another arm of the mission in its effort to assist and aid the community.
