Saudi Gazette report RIYADH – Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Sports Authority (GSA) and Chairman of the Saudi Arabian Olympic Committee Turki Bin Abdulmuhsin Al Asheikh launched the “My Team” initiative on Sunday by by providing SR500,000 to each of the 14 sports clubs. The initiative aims to increase the income of the clubs participating in the Saudi Premier League. Fans can also support their clubs by donating SR1 every day by sending an SMS to the number 505050. In this regard agreements have been signed with STC, Mobily, Zain and Virgin telecommunication companies. Fans can also deposit cash directly in bank accounts allocated for this purpose for respective clubs. An agreement has also been signed with an international company for TV transmission rights. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed with Mawasim Company for Sports Investment to study establishing specialist sports academies to encourage sports and physical activities and skills among male and female students all over the Kingdom. Another MOU was signed with Abyan Medical Company Ltd to draw up special curricula to teach and train Olympic prospects in all technical, physical and behavioral aspects, apart from providing sports consultations in this aspect.
