11,638 marriages, 5,287 divorces in a month

Okaz/Saudi Gazette RIYADH — The Ministry of Justice has reported that 11,638 marriage contracts were concluded within the past one month while 5,287 divorce deeds were issued during the same period. The ministry’s report did not reveal the rate of divorce in marriages concluded during month. It only reflected the dates of marriage contracts and divorce deeds were issued, and did not mention the dates of marriage between the divorced couples. The ministry also reported that the Kingdom’s courts including personal status courts, the criminal courts Ct, general courts and commercial courts, issued more than 56,369 verdicts within the month. This is an increase of 17 percent in the number of court verdicts compared to the same month last year. The courts received 85,770 cases during the month and 44 percent of the cases were handled by the personal status courts, 34 percent by general courts, 17 percent by criminal courts and 5 percent by commercial courts. Executive courts received more than 57,000 requests covering a total sum of more than SR17 billion. There have also been more than 245,000 documentation requests submitted to the courts during the month.
