Princess Lolowah opens Effat's annual photography competition and exhibition

Princess Lolowah Al-Faisal inaugurates "The Colors of Our Lives" photography competition and exhibition at Effat University in Jeddah.

JEDDAH — Princess Lolowah Al-Faisal, vice chair of the Board of Trustees and general supervisor of Effat University, opened the university's fourth annual Photography Exhibition and Competition under the title The Colors in Our Lives. The exhibition, which was held at the university's library and cultural museum in Jeddah recently, was attended by Princess Reem Bint Mohammed Al-Faisal. The exhibition showcased a variety of photographs taken by 43 students from different departments of the university. The exhibition aims to support the work of Saudi artists and spread artistic awareness across Jeddah, as well as in Effat University, the first women's university in the Kingdom. The exhibition and competition also aspires to encourage professionalism in photography and publication. Dean of Effat's Department of Architecture and Design Dr. Mervat Al-Shafei stated the exhibition aimed to present the ideas of students in the form of photographs. Another goal was to encourage the students to trust in their own abilities and unleash their creative ideas, which have the potential to produce fine works of art, she added. Princess Lolowah Al-Faisal and Princess Reem Al-Faisal presented the trophies and certificates to the winners. First prize was awarded to Hessa Al-Dubairi, entrepreneurship student at Effat College of Business. The second place went to Nouf Al-Quaidi, English and Translation, Effat College of Science and Humanities, while Aroub Bajajah, architecture student at Effat College of Architecture and Design, was placed third. Loujaine Al-Habashi and Rivan Obaid, both architecture studetns at Effat College of Architecture and Design, shared the prize for the runner-up for the third place. In the Effat graduates category the winner was Sara Al-Mehrabi, Information Systems student at Effat College of Engineering. Thanking Princess Lolowa and Princess Reem for their support, Dr. Haifa Jamal Al-Lail, president of Effat University, said, We are very pleased with the large number of entries this year, which showed that Effat students have gone beyond mere proficiency to achieve a very high standard of creativity and professionalism. I congratulate the winners of the competition on their excellence in the fine art of photography. — SG
