Riyadh — Four Russians are among 53 suspects arrested last month for involvement in terror activities in the Kingdom.
Three Russians were Iqama (residence permit) holders and the fourth was on a transit visa permit. They were arrested on Dec. 25.
The suspects are the first Russian nationals to be arrested on terrorism charges in Saudi Arabia.
Officers representing the national security agency and counter-terrorism agencies questioned the suspects and referred them for trial. The other 49 suspects arrested last month include a US resident, an Indian expat, a Turkish resident, and the rest from Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Syria, Egypt and Yemen.
The arrests took the number of suspects being detained on terror and security charges in the Kingdom to 5,310, according to an updated list posted on Nafethah, the Interior Ministry portal that lists the cases of detainees. The list includes five US nationals.
