Saudi Gazette report DAKAR — The Kingdom recently attended the Global Partnership for Education conference in the Senegalese capital recently. The Kingdom's delegation was headed by Dr. Salem Al-Malik, chancellor and superintendent of the General Administration of International Cooperation. Dr. Al-Malik represented the Ministry of Education and was the head of the Kingdom's delegation in the third edition of fund-raising in the Global Partnership for Education conference. The organization of Global Partnership for Education aims to raise $2 billion to invest in a special fund to contribute in improving the education in developing countries around the world. Reflecting the weight carried by the Kingdom and its pilot role in supervising programs and initiatives that support and improve education, the Kingdom was invited by the governments of Senegal and France to attend and participate in the conference, Dr. Al-Malik said. He also emphasizes that this international participation comes at a time where education in the Kingdom is witnessing a quantum leap and an accelerated growth under the continuous support for the education sectors from the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Crown Prince. Dr. Al-Malik met the General Manager of UNESCO, Ms. Audrey Azoulay, and General Manager of International Organization of the Francophonie Ms. Mashael Johan. He expressed the Kingdomes trust of the two organizations and their efforts in serving education. He mentioned the obvious positive outcomes the leaderships of the Kingdom found from the programs, agreements and common events that the two organizations and the Ministry of Education are concerned with to improve education and the educational process. It is worth mentioning that the Global Partnership for Education was started as an initiative of the World Bank as part of education fast-track in 2002. Then, it was converted into a separate organization known as Global Partnership for Education in 2013 and started its work since then. Currently, it is headed by Julia Gillar, former prime minister of Australia, and the CEO Ms. Alice Albert.
