SICF’s APL proves a grand success

JEDDAH — A successful closing ceremony of APL season 3, anchored by Omar Kashmeere, brought down the curtains of the event at Sulamaniya grounds, where the final between Jeddah Gladiators and ATS Cricket Club was played. Jeddah Gladiators recorded an exciting win for the Osman Yeslam Bin Mahfooz Cup by 16 runs. Earlier, in the match Gladiators posted 103 runs in 15 overs which proved difficult for ATS to surmount. Chief Guest Osman Yeslam Bin Mafooz, president of Saudi Indian Cultural Forum (SICF), presented the trophy to Jeddah Gladiators, and Mumtaz Ali Khan of Petronas gave the runners-up trophy to ATS, and Syed Mushtaq Ahmed of S.M Engineering presented the Player of the Tournament trophy to Abdul Wasey from ABCC for his brilliant allround performance. Guest of honor Faiz Ali Abdul Rehman Al Asmari gave the following awards: Best Batsman: Syed Abdul Wasey of ABCC for his 308 runs, Best Bowler: Hyder Ali of ATS for taking 22 Wickets, Man of the Match in Finals: Ahmed of Jeddah Gladiators 3 wickets for 18 runs. Guest of Honor was Faiz Ali Abdul Rehamn Al Asmari, from the office of Prince Mitab Bin Abdul Aziz, along with Abdullah Ali Al Asmari. Mohd Zaffar Syed Al Asmari where presented plaques by Shahed Khan, president APL. They were thanked for their unconditional support by Osman Bin Mahfooz, president SICF Aziziya Premier league organized the popular cricket tournament at Sulaymania ground under the aegis of SICF. The third edition was supported by Faheem of JDT and Mohd Rafiullah of GTWA. Chief Guest Osman Yeslam Bin Mahfooz, in his speech, offered his unconditional support for the expats in the field of sport and culture. SICF will be conducting a grand soft ball cricket tournament said APL’s Khan, and will include day and night cricket matches with expected participation of 100 teams at 16 Sulamaniya grounds in Jeddah. APL presented plaques of appreciation to Feroz Khan, Alam Khan, Taj Junaid, Syed Moid Uddin, Sibgaht Ulah, Asif, Anas Mirza, Afzal, Syed Anwarullah, Sheriffuddin, Saleem Priya, Farooq Saifuddin, Syed Mushtaq Ahmed, Omar Mattoo and members of SICF. — SG
