Restart Mideast peace process, King tells Trump

Saudi Gazette report Riyadh — Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman in a telephone call to US President Donald Trump on Monday evening emphasized the necessity of restarting the Mideast peace process within the framework of international efforts. The King reiterated Saudi Arabia’s firm stand on the Palestinian cause and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state with Jerusalem (Al-Quds) as its capital. King Salman expressed his appreciation for the statement issued by the White House and its strong stand as regards Houthi militias who continue their aggression due to the Iranian support. The King affirmed Saudi Arabia’s efforts to find a political solution to the Yemeni crisis and provide humanitarian and relief support for the Yemeni people. President Trump stressed the need to confront the Iranian threat aiming to destabilize the region. He praised the role and the efforts of the Kingdom in achieving stability. The King and the US President emphasized the importance of what has been achieved within the framework of concerted international efforts to fight Daesh terror organization in Iraq and Syria. King Salman stressed the need to find a solution to the Syrian crisis that fulfills the aspirations of the Syrian people and maintains their territorial unity and integrity. The King thanked Trump for the warm reception of the Kingdom’s delegation headed by Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman, deputy premier and minister of defense, currently on an official visit to the US. The King appreciated the fruitful meetings and important agreements signed by the two countries. The outcome of the visit will be good for the Kingdom and the US. Trump stressed the success of the Crown Prince’s visit, its remarkable impressions on US officials and the private sector, which reflects the distinguished bilateral relationship.
