By Mir Mohsin Ali RIYADH — Celebrating 20 years of educational excellence, AIYS added another year of high quality and holistic education. It was significant not only because of number of years it has served the community, but also considering its special milestones as the school celebrated two decades of imparting education. The school had a very festive mood during the commemoration of the Foundation Day. The celebration began with the Chief Guests, Dr. Thanaa Mohamed, Ministry of Health, Riyadh - for girls’ section, Mariappan, general manager, Air India, Guest of Honors, Dr. E. M. Haneef, chapter convener and Mohsin Ali, for boys’ section, Dr. K. Rahamathulah, principal, academic director and HOI, and other school officials receiving the Guard of Honor from the school band. It was followed by school assembly, which included Holy Qur’an recitation and its English translation, prayer, school pledge, thought for the day and word for the day. Asha Cherian, head mistress, girls’ section, and Karthikeyan, activity in charge boys’ section welcomed the dignitaries. Adil Razak, school head boy, and Nida, school head girl, presented their induction speech and briefed all about the school’s progress since its inception. The highlight of the day was The Declaration of The School Annual Sports Meet Open by the Principal Dr. K. Rahamathullah. Lighting of the Olympic torch, oath taking and honoring the office bearers of Students Council were the part of this auspicious occasion. In his address, Rahamathullah reminded the students about the humble beginnings of the institution and also highlighted the school’s achievement till date. He emphasized that the school would always strive for excellence by providing standardized teaching learning process through activity based XSEED Curriculum, New Generation Programs such as Robotics, Mobile Science Lab, Smart Classrooms and the latest Students Enrichment Program which includes Language Club, Knowledge Club, Sports Club and Social Club. In addition, he announces the setting up of scholarship for economically deserving students from the next academic year 2019-2020. He also appreciated the efforts put in by the staff and students for coming up with a wonderful show. In her address, Dr. Thanaa Mohamed said that she was impressed by the astounding performances of the students and congratulated the principal, teaching and non-teaching staff and students on the 20th Foundation Day. Mariappan, general manager, Air India, expressed his happiness about the quality of education provided by the school. He also said that educational service is very much like the airplane service and that Dr. Rahamathullah is the crew captain, the teachers the crew members and the students the passengers, who are being flown to the destination that would spark a bright future. Dr. E.M. Haneef, chapter convener, appreciated AYIS for its excellent services in the field of education. Mementos were presented to all the dignitaries. KG and Primary Section also celebrated 20th anniversary with great fervor. Students from KG to senior sections presented varieties of entertainment programs which included musicals, scintillating dance performances using various prop prepared under the able stewardship of the teachers. The energy and passion of the students were visible in their performances. Every corner of the school vibrated with enthusiasm. PPT presentation based on the school’s journey was also shown. Hani Sharaf and Kripa Maryam, vice – school head girl, concluded the program with vote of thanks. It was followed by the singing of Saudi and Indian National Anthems. Thunderous applause and appreciation echoed in the school auditorium witnessing the joyous celebration.
