JEDDAH — The managing committee of Khak-e-Taiba Trust (KTT) Jeddah center felicitated visiting founder member of Trust, Mohammed Abdul Shukur, at a local restaurant here recently. Abdul Shukur was in Kingdom to perform Haj.

The felicitation function also featured the regular monthly board meeting.  Welcoming the dignitary, President Ahmed Abdul Hakeem highlighted, in a brief report, KTT Jeddah Center’s activities and also acknowledged the role played by Shukur.

Abdul Hakeem said, “The seed of the solid KTT tree was laid by few senior members like Shukur some two decades ago and that has yielded lush and cool branches that formulate a broad-based strategy of social work.

Initially, KTT’s objective was to assist the victims of Hyderabad during the communal riots of 1989 that witnessed mass killings and destruction of properties, mainly of the minority community.”

Referring to the present strength of KTT Jeddah center, he stated that, “all our members are equally important and I want to evolve a balanced approach wherein every individual member’s efforts are uplifted in order to utilize the hidden talents within them, and I believe it will certainly be beneficial for our organization.”

Shukur, in his address, detailed KTT project reports of Hyderabad centers. According to him, KTT basically focuses on a threefold agenda — Removal of ignorance, Poverty alleviation and Eradication of illiteracy.

He said: “Removal of ignorance is very essential in order to create a sense of awareness among the deprived section of the society so as to avail governmental welfare schemes that are solely directed for the families living below the poverty line.”

He continued: “We have enshrined these objectives in our bylaws and have carried them forward for almost two decades now. Today I am happy to see the progress in our mission, our initial plan have surpassed all expectations and we have become a force to reckon with after the commencement of junior college, self-employment schemes and other vocational courses run under one pipeline project.”

Meanwhile, the Trustee and General Secretary Syed Khaja Viqaruddin gave a brief account of KTT Jeddah activities. He said: “Our periodical educational events are linked to the current seasonal festivities, and so I appeal to every member to come forward and express his views as to what literary function should be held in the near future apart from the regular flagship event of interschool elocution competition”.

Commenting upon the educational events, Viqaruddin stated that, “Every literary function generates substantial resource that makes the task helpful and advantageous for the community.”

Explaining the role played by Shukur, Chief Patron of Trust Mohammed Shameem Kausar said: “Your careful thought and meticulous involvement in framing the bylaws of KTT that gave Jeddah center an upper hand, has proved to be beneficial in the field of social works and today we have reached an affluent position wherein other social organizations have started emulating us.”
