JEDDAH — The opening of the bridge at the intersection of Palestine Road with Prince Miteb (Arbaeen) Street and Dallah Street will be delayed by about three months, the municipality announced.

The Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs has approved extending the period of the project implementation by 81 days following a request from the contractor due to some engineering hiccup in the design work of the bridge at its northwestern part, it said.

The bridge will open in the first week of January 2015, instead of Sept. 17 as previously scheduled. The bridge, which is 2.4 km long and 25 meters wide with three lanes in each direction, will contribute significantly to easing the traffic congestion on Patestine Road, one of the main arteries of Jeddah.
