JEDDAH — The Deputy Chief Minister of Telangana state of India, Mohd. Mahmood Ali, inaugurated the official website of Urdu Academy Jeddah at the residence of Asif Sayeed a philanthropist and supporter of Urdu Academy recently. The Indian minister was in the Kingdom to perform Haj.
Speaking on the occasion, Mahmood Ali congratulated the Academy’s office bearers and members and appreciated their silent but constructive services towards Urdu. He said, “The government of Telangana is very serious in its efforts to promote Urdu in the state and will instruct soon to all English medium schools to compulsorily introduce Urdu in their schools.”
He assured the academy that all possible support would be extended to Jeddah Urdu Academy and other organizations who are seriously involved in the promotion of Urdu language in Telangana. Earlier, Jamal Qadri President of the Academy thanked Mahmood Ali for his presence in his welcome address.
Saleem Farooqui, secretary, informed briefly about the Academy’s activities and M. A. Salam, treasurer, presented the bouquet. The coordinator for Digital Media Syed Shamsuddin Qadri Mustafa, who has designed the website www.urduacademyjeddah.com, highlighted its contents and informed all that very soon all Azad souvenirs issued every year since 2001 would be uploaded as these souvenirs contain a lot of information about Maulana Azad, Urdu language and Freedom Fighters of India.
Program coordinator Khalid Hussain made all necessary arrangements to make this occasion successful with the close coordination of Shaikh Ibrahim, Mohd. Faheem, Aslam Afghani, Sami Farooqui, Liaqat Ali Khan, Nasir Khurshid, Danish and Mujahid. Many prominent personalities of media, social workers and Urdu lovers attended the event.
