JEDDAH — The alumni association of Jamia Nizamia, “Old Boys Association of Jamia Nizamia (Bazme Tulba-E-Qadeem W Muhibban-E-Jamia Nizamia),” one of the leading and oldest Islamic universities in Hyderabad, organized a function to fete pilgrims recently at a local restaurant here.

 

The function was presided by Mufti Sadiq Mohiuddin while the chief guest of the function was deputy chief minister of new Indian state of Telangana Muhammad Mahmoud Ali. 

 

Ali said: “The problem of Makkah Rubat has been solved and next year about 600 pilgrims will stay in Rubats and this strength will double in coming years.”

 

According to Ali, the current government has also helped to sort out the Haj house issue in Hyderabad, India. 

 

“I prayed to Almighty Allah in the Holy Mosque for the welfare of Telangana Muslims and I hope Allah will accept my prayers,” he said. 

 

Mohiuddin also addressed the gathering and expressed his wish for the success of Ali’s Telangana development plans. 

 

Mohiuddin emphasized on the need to conduct social welfare programs for personality development of the youth.

 

While delivering his welcome address alumni president, Mohammed Naveed Afroze Naveed said the alumni has welcomed and feted pilgrims annually for the last 18 years. 

 

He praised the activities of the current government of Telangana and hoped it will bring about betterment of Muslims’ future.

 

Secretary of Haj committee Syed Khaja Viqaruddin also addressed the gathering and requested all pilgrims to sincerely pray for the welfare of Muslims of India.

 

Nazim Uddin Gouri welcomed all the pilgrims and presented shawls and plaques to all guests.

 

Earlier, the program started with recitation of a few verses from the Holy Qur’an by Abdul Basit and followed by Naat from Alhaj Syed Munawwar and ex-student Abdul Hasan.

 

Mohd Abdul Salam delivered the vote of thanks and compered the program.
