IN the 1980s, the majority of religious cassettes distributed in mosques and houses described those who wanted to eradicate every root and source of terrorism as secular. Back then, the war on terrorism was a red line no one dared to cross.

Those who warned the general public against the dangers of terrorism were severely criticized.

Anyone who has read Ghazi Al-Gosaibi’s “Until There is No More Tumult or Oppression” understands the type of conflict that existed at the time.

Today, the situation has become different as people are more aware of the dangers of terrorism. Finally, we have realized the important role mosques and schools play in encouraging students to be violent and at the same time in educating them about the consequences of violence.

Al-Eqtisadiah daily recently reported that the Board of Senior Scholars would start dealing strong blows to terrorism through schools and mosques. The board has started working on a program requiring all scholars to visit all Kingdom’s regions and cities to participate in seminars, lectures, and symposiums focusing on the methods extremists use to lure the citizens of this country and encourage them to engage in terrorist acts.

This is just the start. It is the first step toward eradicating all sources of terrorism that produced generations of terrorists in Afghanistan, Chechnya, and now in Syria and Iraq. God knows what terrorist organizations will emerge in the future. The real disaster is the fact that each terrorist organization produces a more violent and ferocious offshoot. All thanks to the board for their efforts to dry out the sources of terrorism.
