JEDDAH — Dr. Hassan Shaibah, Dean of the Batterjee Medical College for Science and Technology, and the president of the California Institute of Medical Sciences, Dr. Raafat Qahoush discussed ways of academic cooperation and the possibility of arranging summer training courses for BMC students in different medical specialties, including medicine, pharmacy and nursing, to be held in the United States.
Dr. Raafat Qahoush said the discussions were held during his visit to the BMC, adding that cooperation between the two institutions could boost learning of their students.
"Such exchange of programs shall contribute to the enrichment of the educational process and the students' learning outcomes," he said.
The two parties have also discussed ways to take advantage of the Institute's constructive relationships and experiences with Saudi and Arab universities.
Dr. Qahoush took a tour around the BMC and listened to a detailed explanation about the college and its facilities, including auditoriums, lecture halls and laboratories which were all equipped with the latest and most advanced educational devices.
Dr. Shaibah stressed that BMC has always been keen on gaining from international experiences in terms of medical education.
"Exchanging experiences and competencies with a vast number of educational institutions is a clear manifestation that the college is interested in building strong academic and scientific bonds with other pioneer universities around the world," he said.
Dr. Khalid Batterjee, Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees, said: "Since its establishment, BMC has been keen on building a network of cooperation with local and international institutions of higher education, and this shall reflect the college's commitment to provide a distinctive and high-standard educational environment in order to achieve the strategic plans set forth. — SG
