RIYADH — The Technical and Vocational Training Corporation's (TVTC) national training program has been expanded to include 90 different occupations, Al-Hayat daily reported.
The TVTC added 20 new training programs for different occupations to Saudize labor-intensive jobs. The center focuses mainly on jobs in the tourism, travel, hotel management and petrochemical industries.
The center’s official spokesman, Fahd Al-Otaibi, said the center offers vocational training programs according to demand in the job market.
“The TVTC based its programs on studies of the private sector’s vocational potential. The center’s priority is to increase the rate of Saudization and provide employment opportunities for the graduates of our programs,” said Al-Otaibi.
Al-Otaibi added that the center has over 30 partnerships with different companies. This has given the center a vital role in influencing the Saudi job market and ensuring quality employees are sent to companies.
“We also have combined training programs that offer training and employment in the same program. Perhaps this is what distinguishes the center — we do not only offer trainees the required skills according to the job market needs, we also try our best to secure jobs for them,” said Al-Otaibi.
The head of the corporation, Ali Al-Ghafees, said expatriates occupy 81 percent of the Saudi job market and most expatriates work in technical and vocational fields.
“We have a lot of potential in our youth, both males and females. We, as a society, must work together to ensure that they receive the credible training they deserve,” said Al-Ghafees.
