JEDDAH — The Ministry of Health shut down a kidney center belonging to a private hospital in Riyadh for violating health regulations covering the prevention of contagious diseases.
The Ministry of Health’s public health deputy minister and head of the ministry’s Command and Control Center Dr. Abdulaziz Bin Saeed said the government department ran an inspection campaign throughout the Kingdom through its various offices.
He said: “The ministry focused on kidney centers as any contracted diseases that affect these vital organs can be fatal.
“The campaign focused on the centers’ prevention of contagious diseases strategies and their credentials and paperwork status with the ministry.”
Bin Saeed mentioned that one of the quickest diseases to spread and most complicated to contain is coronavirus, formally known as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome.
“Despite the fact that the virus is now under full control and health institutes are no longer carriers of the virus, there are still some cases of coronavirus today.
“However, most of the patients today are people who spend their day around camels.”
Bin Saeed stressed on the importance of taking all health precautions and following doctors’ instructions when spending a lot of time near camels.
The ministry does not hesitate to shut down any kidney centers that have the slightest potential of carrying contagious diseases.
“I warn everybody, whether they are at risk of contracting a disease or not, to take all precautions necessary by having regular medical checkups and staying in a sanitized environment.
“All shut down centers will not operate again until they rectify their statuses with the ministry. “Any risks can be life-threatening and the ministry is not willing to take any chances.”
