JEDDAH — The Ministry of Labor has asked business owners to take into consideration changing weather conditions including low temperatures and rain and provide suitable clothing to protect their workers.

Business owners are also responsible for creating health and safety awareness among their workers.

In a statement to Saudi Gazette, the ministry said this new order comes as part of its responsibility about work and industry-related dangers as well as job-related illnesses.

It said: “Based on the eighth section of the labor system and the ministerial decisions related to weather changes, the ministry has previously issued a decision banning work under the heat during the summer to protect workers.”

The ministry has established a website to increase awareness of the importance of maintaining a good labor culture.

It has also published a guide that states the correct measures to be taken to ensure the safety and health of workers on duty.

The guide also provides a description on how to protect both human and financial resources.

The ministry stated that it conducts inspection tours to ensure the private sector meets safety and health regulations.

The ministry’s statement added that public and private institutions have a responsibility to provide work environments that are safe and healthy and adhere to international standards.
