JEDDAH — Authorities have shut down four amusement parks over various violations.

Civil Defense safety inspectors visited 49 parks during a routine check and cited different violations; some of them were major and required decisive action, said Civil Defense Director Brig. Salim Al-Matrafi.

The inspectors intensified their routine checkup visits because the midyear school holiday was around the corner.

Jeddah is expected to witness an influx of tourists and visitors from all over the country and abroad.

“The inspectors made sure all parks have certificates that prove their rides have been tested by the specialized companies,” Al-Matrafi said. He urged the owners of amusement parks to strictly follow safety instructions and requirements in order to avoid any potential accidents that might happen because of negligence.
