JEDDAH — The Cultural Attaché of the Saudi Embassy in London Dr. Faisal bin Mohammed Al-Muhanna Abalkhail inaugurated on Sunday an art exhibition for Saudi students held in parallel with the 8th Saudi Students Conference.

The exhibition featured plastic photography, drawing, photography, calligraphy, crochet, digital printing, textile design as well as various animation shows.

The cultural attaché expressed delight with what was presented at the exhibition, adding that it demonstrates that the Kingdom has many gifted and talented students.

He also expressed thanks and appreciation to artist Ahmed Al-Montashari, who gave him on behalf of his colleagues a portrait of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman.

Meanwhile, Rafat Saleh Madani, head of arts committee, stated that the exhibition highlights the very best creative work from students.

He said: “Having more than 200 pieces of work is a good sign for the upcoming exhibitions.

“These creative works prove that we have talented amateur artists.”

Madani added that the exhibition was not only represented by the artistic work but also by the great cooperative spirit shown by the students.

Kholoud Al-Bugami, another participant, said: “I was honored to be part of this exhibition to display my work and hope we find more opportunities to show more of what we have aside from our education.”

Wareed Al-Anini expressed happiness in participating as an amateur artist: “Even though I am majoring in medical imaging I have a passion for arts.

“It was a great opportunity for me to show my favorite art, which is crochet, and I was glad that I have received positive reactions.”

Speaking about her participation, member of the art committee Najla Bin Helail described the exhibition as a successful event that gave the opportunity to Saudi students in London to show off their skills and talents.

She said: “In such exhibitions I always intend to transfer our beautiful art to Europeans and this is what I did in the particular exhibition and will do in future ones.”

Najla Al-Shareef, who is majoring in digital media, spoke about her animation show. “I had the pleasure in participating in this exhibition by showing off my animation show, which is considered to use the most advanced technology.

“I wish to see this technology enter my country as it has been developed in all parts of the world.”

The 8th Saudi Students Conference is organized by the Saudi Arabian Cultural Bureau.

The conference is seen as a great opportunity to build relationships and exchange experiences between Saudi and British universities and colleges, Saudi and British national research centers, companies and many key policymakers in education.
