So finally they have understood that keeping someone’s passport is not just a violation of the law but it is also a violation of human rights!

So finally they have understood that keeping someone’s passport is not just a violation of the law but it is also a violation of human rights!

It is already in Saudi labor law yet our employer will not give us our passports and documents! To whom can we report this matter?

Muhammad

At the end of the day you can keep your passport with you but if you don’t have an exit or reentry visa you are still a prisoner. What a joke.

Benjamin Gharbawi

This is definitely illegal!  No employer or anyone else should ever keep another person’s documents: passport, ID card, etc.

This is a violation of human rights and it is absolutely a violation of employment. So yes, let’s hope that the new King will fix such flaws in the system.

Pop Nicoleta

This issue is usually related to local companies and they should be dealt with strictly. Most large multinational firms I know of either do not follow this illegal practice or have returned the passports of their employees lately.

Kazim Bangash

Nothing will happen. All of this is just to distract the human rights watch. Even if you have your passport you still have to rely upon your employer for an exit visa, so what’s the difference?
