JEDDAH — International film directors Omer Faruk, Bensalem and Ovidio Salazar will be leading interactive documentary filmmaking masterclasses in Jeddah and Madinah on Mar. 5-7 and 9-12.

These renowned film directors have produced award-winning films and have a combined 70 years of directing experience.

Their works are broadcasted on BBC, Nat Geo, Channel 4 (UK) and Discovery channels.

They have held multiple photo exhibitions, workshops across the world, traveled to over 60 countries, acted in foreign films and worked with notable individuals globally.

Farha S, event coordinator, said: “We want students to be empowered by acquiring skills affordably but we also want students to be taught by leaders in documentary film-making. That’s why we choose three of them.

“It’s an intense, exciting and fun event.

“Students will be energized, exhilarated, and feel empowered to start their own projects.”

Farha said participants will be encouraged to produce content that “meets the desire for life’s meaning and truth, self exploration and a search for a greater purpose. We’ve seen a lot of content on hedonism but its high time we shift our focus on the growing spiritual media movement.”

Alicia Ali, co-founder of Arabian Jewel that is organizing the masterclasses, said: “Awakening the consciousness of society is an arduous task.

“It takes creative minds and empowered individuals – visionaries – to create change, to shift paradigms.
