JEDDAH — As a part of the ongoing Asian Film Festival 2015, "Drishyam" was chosen to be screened on the Indian film night at the Indian Consulate here on Saturday.
Film enthusiasts, diplomats of various countries, and prominent Indian community members were in attendance, who also had the opportunity to relish fine Indian cuisine during and before the screening of the film.
Dr. Irshad Ahmed, consul press and information, enlightened the audience about the film. "The film is about today’s teenage life and its impact on society."
The 165-minute Malayalam film stars Mohan lal, Siddique, WShajon, Irshad and Kunjan.
Produced by Ashivad Cinemas and directed by Jeethu Joseph, the film which had English subtitles was released in 2013.
In the film, Goerge Kutty, the lead male actor, is a cable TV network owner in a remote, hilly village in Kerala. He lives a happy life with his wife, Rani, the lead female actress, and his two daughters.
One of Kutty's daughter, Anju, goes on a school trip. A boy who was in Anju's group blackmails her with a video of her that he had captured during the trip. In the course of events, he is accidentally killed by Rani and Anju. Then begins the hunt for the murdered boy, who happens to be the son of an inspector general.
Consul general B.S.Mubarak delivered the welcome speech. He welcomed the guests and thanked them for attending this cultural festival. He thanked all the community members who supported and made the event successful.
Mubarak said: “Documentary 'Make in India' is the vision of prime minister of India to make India a manufacturing hub."
"Make In India" is a campaign launched on 25 September last year by the prime minister.
He offered his condolence to the family of the deceased speaker of the Kerala assembly attract business and investments from around the world.
