DAMMAM — The Ministry of Social Affairs has assigned Al-Mawadah Society the responsibility of holding the 8th Marriage and Family Forum in Jeddah after the success of the 7th forum held on April 5-6 in Dammam and organized by Wiam Organization.
Wiam’s executive director Mohammed Al-Abdulqadir said the forum was held in cooperation with Medad International Research Center and a number of family organizations and societies.
“The forum focused on defining the current status of the Saudi family and its future direction and developing the marriage and family development organizations accordingly,” said Al-Abdulqadir.
He added there were six main sessions, 26 academic researches presentations, three workshops and two discussion sessions.
“The event was sponsored by Emir of Eastern Province Prince Saud Bin Naif and supervised by the Ministry of Social Affairs. The support of the prince and the minister Majed Al-Qasabi emphasizes the importance of investing in the Saudi family,” said Al-Abdulqadir.
He added the forum began with theoretical academic presentations but ended in practical recommendations for the next year.
“The Saudi family is a micro projection of Saudi society. The forum recognized the importance of maintaining the infrastructure of the Saudi family according to Islamic regulations and Saudi preservations,” said Al-Abdulqadir.
He also said the forum recommended that the formation of a committee consisting of representatives from various family and marriage organizations and societies.
“The forum also recommended the formation of another committee consisting of the Marriage Society in Jeddah, Usrati Society in Madinah, Usrah Society in Qassim and Wiam Organization to build a website for those who wish to find a spouse,” said Al-Abdulqadir.
