Fatmah Lootah, an Emirati artist, is known for her portrayal of vivid imagery and embracing human elements in her artwork.

She is currently preparing an art auction in Dubai for Syrian children. Currently, Lootah is focusing all efforts on the condition of children in the Middle East through paintings and live performances whenever there is an opportunity.

“I am a searcher for the meaning of “me” through the light and through the color of the universe,” Lootah told Saudi Gazette.

“I have used lines to draw my existence with the hope that this very existence may show me the path.” She finds inspiration in people and through spiritual discipline.

“I have been looking for beauty in the eyes of people to draw. I am also looking for this beauty in me to draw myself- a spirit in love with another spirit.

Art has been my road to light. It has colored the silence in the desert of my soul. Art is me who has been searching for the color of the spirit since I was born,” she added.

Lootah studied arts at the Academy of Arts in Baghdad and also at the American University in the US. She has been living in Italy since 1984.

“I organized a number of artistic shows in a number of Arab and European countries individually and with other colleagues.

Since 1985 I have participated in a number of art festivals with paintings and live performances. I participated in the special show about Syrian children which was organized in Jordan.

I also participated in live video performances in Calcutta and Delhi.” Lootah does not consider art to be a commodity for sale but as an object of beauty that reflects her soul.

She will soon have her own show in Dubai and will also participate in an art festival in Abu Dhabi.
