MANILA — Comedian Ritchie d’Horsie passed away on Friday evening. He was 58 years old. His niece April Alcober said he died at around 9:24 p.m. on Friday at his residence. Alcober said the comedian, whose real name is Ricardo Reyes, was diabetic and had been having a hard time breathing during the past several days. She said doctors attributed the death to multiple organ failure. “His last dialysis session was extremely difficult for him,” Alcober said.
Actress-scriptwriter Bibeth Orteza on Saturday morning posted on her Facebook page, “Rest in peace, Ricardo Reyes, aka Ritchie D’Horsie. Godspeed.”
“He’d been in and out of the hospital; around the same time a year ago, I saw him in a wheelchair, waiting for Vic S at the foot of the Eat Bulaga hosts’ entrance—but still cheerful, I must say, or making an effort to pass off as cheerful,” she said.
Reyes rose to fame in the 1970s as a sidekick of the trio Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto and Joey de Leon. He was part of the TV shows “Discorama,” “Iskul Bukol,” and “Eat Bulaga” — Agencies
