The rage for sunglasses is no longer based on functional utility but its free expression of individulaism. Sunglasses are evidently the most sought after accessory in the fashion arena.
Nowadays, it’s your sunglasses that define your trademark and are the showstoppers. The London based brand targets fashion forward minds with a ‘Londoncentric’ feel.
Spitfire allows you to embrace all that you are and all that you want to be. Charles Velkes, Director of Spitfire Sunglasses, spoke to Saudi Gazette about his journey.
His accidental entry into the fashion world helped revive the fusion of punk rock and psychedelic cultures.
“We’re influenced by all London subcultures and the city of London as a whole which then seeps into our designs and ideas.
This collection may be 1970’s psychedelic, the next collection might be Post Punk or English Rockabilly. We like for all our collections to grab design moods and iconic ideas from the past and merge them together in a fresh and modern way,” Velkes said.
Discussing the he biggest challenge while designing sunglasses he said: “Sunglasses sit on the face so if a design is not precisely correct the wearer will certainly notice! The challenge is to take this precision and inject it with something fresh, interesting and cool.”
He said the current trends favor retro-futurism and 70s psychedelia. Check out their extraordinary collection of retro-cool round sunglasses, clubmasters, visors, wayfarers, and more on their website or shop at West LA boutique.
