JEDDAH — Saudi Students House in San Antonio took part at the 2015 St. Philip’s College culture fest and Rib Cook-Off event which took place on April 23, according to reports reaching here.
The 2015 Culture Fest included a full slate of Fiesta royalty, mariachis, dance troupes, amusements, rides, food, craft and cultural information booths.
International student groups were asked to showcase their culture by setting up booths, performing on stage, distributing food samples or conducting other interactive cultural activities.
The booth which represented Saudi Arabia emerged as the most attractive one as it displayed an arrangement of cultural artifacts including photos, maps, books, musical instruments, crafts and clothing.
The Saudi booth included a “photo shoot” where visitors could dress up in traditional Saudi clothes and get their photos taken, while sipping “gahwa” (Arabian coffee) and enjoying the display of traditional Saudi artifacts. Students also showcased the development of Saudi Arabia through an impressive time line display.
Ahmed Al-Aryani, Saudi Students House in San Antonio’s media consultant and booth supervisor, said : “The booth really showed the Saudi spirit of communication and openness to all cultures as well as exhibiting our history, heritage and culture to St. Philip’s College’s residents and visitors.”
He said it was a matter of pride for the Saudi students.
Fellow Saudi students dressed up in traditional attire and displayed photos, pottery and clothing from their home country.
At the end of the cultural night, on behalf of Saudi Students House in San Antonio Al-Aryani presented appreciation letters to St. Philip’s College Patrice Ballard Coordinator of International Student Services.
