The authors of the articles "The most dangerous enemy" (May 27) and "Daesh, our next-door neighbor" (May 26) have rightly highlighted the dangers of the "snake in the grass". Let me add a few more points in this connection. Our children and youth are being brainwashed through the use of social media and the Internet by some radicals with their "half-baked" ideas. The venom spewed by these fanatics fascinate our youth with their doctrines of violence at the expense of family life, education, loyalty to their motherland, duties to one's parents, stability of the community, tolerance, co-existence and a host of other noble values enshrined in Islam. The only solution is to vehemently counter this radicalism with the moderation and peace that Islam embodies. Schools, universities, mosques, families, tribes and our social media must be vigilant and enlighten our young people about the perils of terrorism. We have to wake up before our sons and daughters become radicals and brutes! Or else, one day when it is too late, we will cry out in aguish and despair: “My son/daughter has changed his/her behavior and has become a radical!"
