JEDDAH — The municipality succeeded in recovering over 1 million square meters of land from encroachers in south Jeddah.

It forms part of an ongoing campaign launched by Jeddah Mayor Hani Abu Ras. Most of the land recovered was surrounded by illegal fences.

Some areas were fenced off by barbed wire and others by concrete walls. A number of residents complained to authorities about the activities of the encroachers and the municipality worked in coordination with police to remove them.

Last month the municipality recovered over 10.8 million square meters from different areas in north and south Jeddah.

The municipality also warned people against buying land from encroachers because they do not have any permits or land deeds.

They also urged people to contact the municipality if they see any suspicious activity.
