JEDDAH — The chairman of cattle imports at Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry claimed Jeddah Islamic Port would receive more than 2 million animals to stabilize prices of meat during Ramadan and cover the needs of the local market for both the fasting and Haj seasons.
Suleiman Al-Jabri’s foundation has been contracted to supply animals for the Haj season this year under the supervision of the Islamic Development Bank.
Al-Jabri said the port started receiving the animals and will continue in coming days in order to meet the needs of the local market and the pilgrimage season.
He said: “We are honored to serve pilgrims every year and thankful for the confidence in us by the Islamic Development Bank that selected us to meet the full needs of the next pilgrimage season of 900,000 animals.”
He stressed that the contract embodies mutual trust between the Islamic Development Bank and his organization.
Al-Jabri thanked the committee of livestock traders at the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce, which continues to work to overcome all difficulties and problems faced by the traders and importers.
He praised the efforts of the Ministry of Agriculture and other officials for their support as well.
