Saudi Gazette is providing readers with tips on how to stay active during the holy month. It is highly recommended not to decrease your sleeping hours and best to sleep after Taraweeh prayers for a few hours so the body is able to function effectively the next morning.

Do not stop exercising during Ramadan. You can stick to cardio activity for 30 minutes rather than 60 three times a week.

Try to avoid exercising during the hottest part of the day. Yoga will help you not only maintain muscle strength but also meditate which will make you more active mentally and physically.

Many people drink coffee or tea during or after Iftar. This can negatively affect a person in terms of dehydration because of the diuretic impact.

Therefore, it is better to take your coffee or tea at least two hours after Iftar. Insist on having six small portions of food a day just like a normal day.

Have three main meals and three snacks such as fruit and yogurt. It is highly recommended to have three small main meals rather than two big meals.

It is also vital to stop eating junk food during Ramadan. Never skip Sahur. It is preferable to eat two hours before you go to bed.

Drink several glasses of water during Sahur and the meal should be high in protein and fiber.

It is preferable to avoid spicy and fried foods. These types of food cause indigestion and heartburn.
