JEDDAH — IDB-GBest beat Saudi AVK in the final to claim the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) GBbest Cricket Cup here.



Taking the strike first, Saudi AVK put on 129. Its star batsman, Maaz, scored 91 with 11 sixes as Danish added 10 and Nadeem 3. Maaz and Nadeem got one wicket each.



In reply, IDB-GBest achieved the target in 11.5 overs. Abid was 63 not out with 7 sixes and a boundary.



Abu Bakar added 50 with 6 sixes and a boundary. Abu Bakar and Muzamil bagged one wicket each.



Maaz was declared Man of the Series and Abu Baker Man of the Final. Six teams took part in the tournament. They are: Emirates, Ericson, Al-Rajhi Aviation, Saudi Binladin Group, Saudi AVK and IDB-GBest.



The event was organized by IDB’s Social and Cultural Wing SOCOM and sponsored by GBest-IT.



Mohammad Abdallah Bughdadi, director GBest and sponsor of the tournament, handed over the winner’s trophy to Syed Abdallah Shah, captain of IDB-GBest, and the runner-up trophy to Saudi AVK skipper.



Baghdadi congratulated the winner and wished other team better luck next time.



The IDB cricket committee members included Syed Asim Reza, Syed Saleem Quadri, Syed M. Javid, Mohammed Abdulrahman and Mohammad Yousufuddin. — SG
