Following Aflam’s launch by YouTube, users have spent more than one million minutes watching Arabic movies, across different genres and cinematic eras.



After the launch of Aflam by YouTube, more than one million minutes were spent watching Arabic movies on the new channel "YouTube Aflam" channel dedicated to classical Arabic films, music and some contemporary movies.



Covering more than seven decades of cinema since the thirties, through its large video library, YouTube organized the content in a way that enables viewers to find their favorite films or those they simply wish to view, directly via a simple search by the film's year of production, category, title, star, director, or screenplay writer.



Interestingly, survey statistics put Adel Imam's "Al Harreef" and Layla Mourad's "Ghazal el Banat" at the top of the most viewed films list of the YouTube Aflam channel library. The YouTube Aflam library already contains nine films based on the most famous novels of Egypt's international writer and Nobel prize winner (literature) Naguib Mahfouz, in addition to more than 30 films with the talented artist Shadiah, and one of Oumm Koulthoum's (known with the honorific title of "Star of the East ") oldest films, "Widad".



The YouTube Aflam channel was launched in response to the, exponentially, growing interest in movies and the surge in movie search on YouTube  which, since 2013, has grown by 300%. 



YouTube Aflam collaborates with Melody, Mazzika, Misr International and Misr Online, the content and broadcasting rights owners. They are the providers as wel  of the audiovisual content played on the site. — SG
