JEDDAH - The last day of the Wamdah group exhibition is today (Monday). The exhibition, which started on Aug. 27 in Tasami Art Center in Serafi Megamall, will be open from 9 a.m. until 11:30 p.m. It showcases 66 paintings by 32 Saudi women artists.

Speaking to Saudi Gazette, the founder and Director of Tasami Art Center, Musaed Al Hulis said a large number of people have visited the exhibition, including many calligraphers and painters.

According to Al Hulis, what differentiates the exhibition from others is the participation of Saudi orphans and women with special needs. Eman Alalawi, a visually-impaired Saudi artist, is showcasing three of her works at the exhibition. All of the paintings are for sale and profits will go to artists as a way to encourage and help them

Exhibition organizer Afaf Mansour was credited for picking the name of the initiative to document the achievement of local artists and give them an opportunity to develop their artistic careers.

In an article that was published by Okaz daily, Afaf said the exhibition showcases the paintings of special needs artists in society out of solidarity with a King Abdulaziz University campaign titled "They are Human Beings." The campaign supported former female convicts and their paintings reflected the hardships women face when released from jail.
