JEDDAH — About 130,000 heads of sheep, imported from Somalia, have arrived at Jeddah Islamic Port (JIP) till Wednesday to meet the needs of the local market during the Haj season and stabilize prices. The head of the committee of livestock traders, Suleiman Bin Al Jabri, said the plan was to import to cover market demands during the peak season and that the arrival of the shipment from Somalia fulfilled the import volumes contracted to cover the Haj season. Al Jabri said the imported sheep would lead to cut in high prices in local market. “The local market depends on imports to cover 75% of its needs,” he said.
